Welcome to the Borneo Rainforest! The Borneo rainforest is the oldest rainforest in the world and has been aged at 130 million years old. The Borneo rainforest is one of the only remaining natural habitats for the endangered Bornean Orang-utan. Borneo rainforest is home to about 15,000 species of flowering plants, 3,000 species of trees, 221 species of mammals and 420 species of resident birds. In many tropical areas around the world, Borneo’s rainforests are being cut and degraded for timber, palm oil, pulp, rubber and minerals. The major threats to the Borneo Rainforest are;
